Title: Senior Agricultural Officer

Type of Appointment: Permanent
Qualification
 An Honors Bachelors of science degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Extension
Services from a recognized University/Institution.
 A post graduate qualification in above will be an added advantage
Working Experience
 Should have served at least 3 years as Agricultural Officer in Government or
equivalent level of experience in a reputable or organization.
Key functions
i. Participating in planning and budgeting for the agriculture sub sector
ii. Implementing Agricultural plans, programs and activities
iii. Writing implementation reports for the sub sector
iv. Training staff and farmers on new technologies and methods on farming,
disease and pest control
v. Sensitizing people on natural disaster
vi. Monitoring and evaluating staff performance
vii. Promoting proper agricultural land utilization
viii. Monitoring the supply and use of agricultural inputs.

Qualification
 Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering or Mechanical
Engineering plus a minimum of a postgraduate Diploma in Agriculture, Farm
Planning from a recognized Institution.
Working Experience
 Working experience of at least three (3) years as an Agricultural Engineer in
water harvesting, irrigation and management of farm tools and technology at
the level of Agricultural Engineer in Government or equivalent level of
experience from a reputable organization.

Key Functions
i. Providing advice on agricultural technology transfer and adaptability in areas of
soil and waterconservation, agricultural engineering, water harvesting and
irrigation;
ii. Initiating and developing Systems for suitable utilization of land;
iii. Developing strategies for utilization and engineering technologies which
enhance land and water productivity;
iv. Linkages with research for securing and adapting appropriate technologies
established;
v. Supporting and developing mechanisms/systems for integrated, improved land,
soil and water management and irrigation;
vi. Compiling and analyzing District data on land use, soil conservation, farming
systems and irrigation potential;
vii. Establishing linkages with research for securing and adapting appropriate
technology;
viii. Rendering advice to the district staff on recent development in water
harvesting and management of fragile soil;
ix. Streamlining methods for integrated management of land, soil and water;
x. Publishing Information on productive land use, soil conservation and farming
systems; and
xi. Strengthening partnerships with relevant education institutions, industry and
other stakeholders.

Key functions
 Implement plans and programs regarding vermin control activities in the
district
 Carrying out activities related to vermin control
 Participate in prevention, control and eradication vermin
 Build capacity of technical staff and communities on vermin control activities
 Collect, collate, analyze and disseminate data on control activities
 Support public private partnership interventions in vermin control
 Participate in monitoring and evaluation of vermin control activities in the
district
 Mobilize and sensitize the community to participate in vermin control activities
 Prepare and disseminate reports to the Head of Division
Title: Assistant Animal Husbandry Officer

Qualifications
 A diploma in animal Health, Animal Husbandry, Diary Husbandry or Ranch

i. Treating and vaccinating livestock, other domestic animals and poultry.
ii. Training farmers on modern animal husbandry methods and animal nutrition.
iii. Carrying out meat inspection.
